St Luke
Wojno-Jasieniecki
The Journal's holy patron

St Luke Wojno-Jasieniecki, Wonderworker, is a great Christian saint, scientist and doctor, one of the most educated men of his time. His book on purulent surgery survived more than fifty reprints and is widely used even today, one hundred years after it was written, as one of the best and most comprehensive sources in the area. His contribution to world Orthodoxy is invaluable, both theology and Church life. His medical devotion to all who suffered was constant and insurmountable, despite all hatred, envy and harm made to him by Soviet authorities. We regard him a holy patron of our journal.
